See what a player actually plays
An opening report describes recorded games in the selected sample. It shows which openings appeared, how often a move was played from a particular position and the results of those games. These are historical observations, not predictions of the next game.
Start with an example, then a lesson
- Choose a listed opening and select “View games in this opening.” The list contains real games from the analyzed player.
- Open a game in the replay player. Use Play/Pause, step controls or the timeline to follow the actual moves.
- Select “Study opening” to open the matching ChessSum lesson, when one is available. Lessons explain plans for both colors and include practice on the board.
For example, the Italian Game lesson starts from 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4. The Caro–Kann lesson studies the ideas behind 1. e4 c6. These are lesson examples, not claims about a particular player's repertoire.
Explore the move tree when you want more detail
Selecting a recorded move changes the board and filters the next moves to games that reached that position through the explored line. A move played in 12 of 20 matching games has a 60% frequency at that branch; it does not mean the player chooses it in 60% of all games.
Whose wins and losses are shown?
Results in a player report are from the analyzed player's perspective. Unknown outcomes do not enter the win-rate denominator. A popular move or a high win rate from a small sample is not proof that the move is objectively best.
What does “Suggest a move” do?
It requests a bounded Stockfish analysis and displays a legal arrow labeled “Engine recommendation.” Detailed scores and lines are optional. Positive numeric evaluations favor White; negative scores favor Black. The available search depth limits the conclusion.
Is this a complete analysis of every weakness?
No. Recurring-mistake findings in an opponent report use a limited opening sample. They are not a complete diagnosis of endgames, time management or every game in the account. Sample counts and coverage remain visible in the report.
